Professional poker players are taking down their share of World Series of Poker titles in Las Vegas. Sometimes the WSOP has a lot of amateurs winning preliminary events but that has not been the case as much in 2008. Poker pros Daniel Negreanu, Kenny Tran, Mike Matusow, Barry Greenstein and Max Pescatori took home titles recently to join Erick Lindgren, Nenad Medic and David Singer as well known winners. Event #25 was the $10,000 No-Limit Holdem Heads-Up Championship won by Kenny Tran. He outlasted a field of 256 players to win over a half million dollars. The finals were a best two out of three and Tran won 2-0 against Alec Torelli. The 2008 Series has definitely been dominated so far by the poker professionals. 16 -- $2,000 Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better -- Andrew Brown -- $226,483 17 -- $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout -- Jason Young -- $335,565 18 -- $5,000 No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball – Mike Matusow -- $537,862 19 -- $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha -- Vanessa Selbst -- $227,905 20 -- $2,000 Limit Hold'em – Daniel Negreanu -- $204,863 21 -- $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em -- Scott Seiver -- $755,891 22 -- $3,000 H.O.R.S.E -- Jens Voertmann -- $298,253 23 -- $2,000 No-Limit Hold'em -- Blair Hinkle -- $507,563 24 -- $2,500 Pot-Limit Hold'em/Omaha – Max Pescatori -- $246,471 25 -- $$10,000 Heads-Up No-Limit Hold'em -- Kenny Tran -- $539,056 26 -- $1,500 Razz – Barry Greenstein -- $158,659 27 -- $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em -- Vitaly Lunkin -- $628,417 28 -- $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha -- Phil Galfond -- $817,781 This week another 10 events will be completed including the Omaha Hi-Low Split-9 or better $10,000 event.
