Last year it was Eric Hershler defeating J.C. Tran to win the title. This year's WPT LA Poker Classic main event begins on Saturday, February 23rd and concludes with the final table on Thursday, February 28th. It won’t air on GSN until mid-July. The preliminary events are already underway and last year’s champ, Eric Hershler already cashed, finishing 9th in the $1,000 No-Limit event. Making big news in the LA Poker Classic this year has been Men “the Master” Nguyen. He has already won three events. He took home the $300 7-Card Stud Hi/Lo tourney winning just over $15,000. He won the $1,500 No Limit Holdem event and pocketed over $81,000 and he also won the $2,500 Limit Holdem tournament, winning just over $42,000. He has also cashed in two other events. He could be a serious threat in the main event that starts this weekend. The LA Poker Classic has seen a number of other professional players do well. Poker pro Jordan Rich and his friend Craig Gray won the $500 tag-team No-Limit Holdem tourney. Online poker pro Cody “thugmoneymkr” Slaubaugh did well in event #22. Kevin Song won event #23 taking home more than $46,000. |
