The Aussie Millions Poker Championship main event is in the books and Australian Stewart Scott is the champion. He bested a field of 681 players to win the $2 million (AUD) first place prize in the Aussie Millions. The final table took more than 12 hours to complete and when it finally got down to heads-up play, Scott got his pocket aces to hold up against Peter Rho’s Ace-Jack and the Aussie Millions was over. Rho took home $1 Million (AUD) for finishing second. Here are the Aussie Millions final results: 1st Place: Stewart Scott - $2 million In other poker news, the schedule is out for the 2009 World Series of Poker and there will again be a four month delay of the main event when the final table is determined. The World Series of Poker will begin preliminary events on May 27th from the Rio in Las Vegas and suspend action on July 15th. The final table will then resume on November 7th and conclude on November 10th with the new main event champion being decided. ESPN will again provide same day taped coverage of the final table. Other highlights of the 2009 scheduling include a new $40,000 buy-in event that starts on May 28th. This special event commemorates the 40th anniversary of the World Series of Poker. There will also be no rebuy events in this year’s World Series of Poker. There will be a total of 57 bracelet events including a total of ten $10,000 buy-in events and the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. championship over the 50 day schedule. Also included in those events is a $1,000 buy-in no-limit hold 'em "stimulus special" on the opening weekend which is expected to draw a record crowd of entrants with a prize pool of about $5 million dollars. |
