ESPN to Broadcast World Series of Poker Europe |

The 2008 World Series of Poker Europe will be covered by ESPN for the first time. The tournament will be held in London Sept. 19 to Oct. 2nd. ESPN is expected to air eight hours of WSOP Europe coverage although the official scheduled has not been announced. The World Series of Poker Europe will have four bracelet events including the £10,000 World Championship No-Limit Holdem event. Many of the top poker pros in the world are expected to play including Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, Chris Ferguson, Erick Lindgren and Jennifer Harmon. "Harrah's has obviously put effort into making a lot of improvements to the event," Hellmuth said, "I would like to make history by being the first American to win a bracelet in Europe."Last year the World Series of Poker was played in three locations but the 2008 event will be played at the Casino at the Empire in London. The Casino is part of London Clubs International and will host all four of the events starting with the £1,500 No-Limit Holdem event on September 19th. "We are eagerly anticipating World Series of Poker Europe this year," said Ty Stewart, World Series of Poker Director of Marketing. "We have enhanced the schedule to provide more variety and game play, greatly broadened the worldwide television exposure and have brought the event under one roof to better the player experience for this prestigious and premiere event." ESPN will be airing the coverage of the World Series of Poker Europe in the United States and in other areas around the world. ESPN360.com will also be providing coverage which will enable more poker fans around the world to see the tournament. ESPN is currently broadcasting the 2008 World Series of Poker from Las Vegas with episodes each Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Those broadcasts are leading up to final table coverage in November of the main event. |
