Home poker games are becoming more popular, as more and more people are playing poker. The poker craze has hit everywhere with the new popularity brought on by television. Online poker sites are everywhere and while it is great to play online, there is still a place for the home poker game. If you are going to be the host of a home poker game you need to do a few things. You need multiple decks of cards, clay or plastic chips, good comfortable chairs, and a poker table. The table should be large enough to accommodate everyone, but small enough so everyone can still feel at ease. 2 - Game Selection Most people are selecting Texas Holdem as the game they prefer. Limit Texas Holdem is another option. The reason for Limit is that the last thing you want is people getting upset early in the night and going all-in. There are other poker games to consider when setting up a home poker game like Omaha and Stud, but most of the players are going to want to play Hold’em. You want players around you that you like and can that you can tolerate. The last thing you want is some idiot ruining your night. You need to be aware of who is in the game and the type of players that you want. Loudmouths and irritating players are not who you want at your home poker game. 4 - Money You probably want to set limits and make sure everyone is comfortable with whatever those limits are. It is just like a real life poker game, so you want everyone to feel they are within their limits. You have to provide some sort of snacks for your players. Keep it simple and basic. You don’t want to make a mess while playing poker and you don’t want messy hands. |
