If you are a new online poker player just recently taking up Texas Holdem poker or a frustrated veteran that isn’t winning enough money in your poker games, you should be aware that poker intimidation is a factor. If you want to win money playing online poker you must be able to deal with other players that intimidate the table but also intimidate others. The first thing about poker intimidation you must understand is that poker intimidation is not dark glasses, big talk, or cocky demeanor. A true intimidator at a poker table simply keeps his opponents at the table constantly guessing during hands and never allows his opponents to play or bet chips with too much comfort or self assurance.A Texas Holdem poker player that is able to bully and intimidate his opponents into not playing their normal games will gain an immediate advantage at the table with the extra chips that such an advantage offers. Once an online poker player has messed with the minds of his opponents they will bet their chips defensively and out of fear in the face of power poker. As you play poker you will run into many players that try to run over the table. If you are not playing an intimidating style you must at least be able to counteract those that are. One way to do this is to play back at them. When you have strong hands, fire chips back at those aggressive players. That will slow them down and when you get a big hand you may be able to take down a big pot. The goal for players is to control the table and that is where intimidation comes into play. If you can force your opponents into making mistakes you will make more money. Players that aren’t intimidated at a poker table become the intimidators and that is how you win money. Being a bully at poker is not a bad thing if you bully intelligently. It is a way to make money and that is always the goal when you are playing poker. |
