When you are playing poker at online poker sites you really want to avoid hands that will get you into trouble. Dangerous poker hands are hands that you think are good and you play strongly without realizing what someone else might have. These are poker hands that you often play to the end and they are hands that can get your into major trouble. These poker hands may look really good, but they are deceptive and oftentimes leave you broke. Let’s take a look at the hands you need to avoid when playing Texas Holdem. The first hand to avoid when playing online poker is the low straight. This is the straight sometimes nicknamed the sucker straight, low end straight, or asses-end straight. For example, if the flop is 4-5-6 and you have a k-3 in your hand, you have an open ended straight draw, but it is a dangerous one. Drawing to the low end of the straight all the way to the river is dangerous. Even if you do complete the straight by getting a 2 or a 7 you can’t feel totally safe because someone may be holding the 7 or the 8 to make you the low end. These types of straights are the ones in which players go broke with. Avoid them. Another hand that players continually go broke with is the king high flush hand. Let’s say you play KJ suited and get a flush draw on the flop. If you hit the flush you are still vulnerable to anyone that has the ace high flush. The king high flush is a big time danger because you could end up going all-in without the best hand. Another poker hand that continually causes players to lose money in online poker is trips when the board is paired. When a pair on the board matches a card in your hand it looks great because you have a set. The problem is that it might not be as good as it looks. For example, let’s say you have an AJ and the flop is AA8. You have trip Aces with a Jack kicker. It looks like a great hand. What happens though if you get raised with this flop? The other person probably either has the other Ace or has pocket 8’s. If the other person has AK or AQ you are in severe trouble and could easily lose all your money. If they have 8’s you are in even worse shape because you won’t see it coming. The other player has the full house and you have a set of Aces. Getting away from sets when a pair is on the board is tough to do but be aware that these poker hands can be troublesome because you can lose all your money playing them. |
