Playing Online Poker with Power

Playing online poker with power is a must if you want to win at most poker sites. It’s about huge bets mostly placed on big cards or power hands and is won with a combination of nerve, courage and intelligence as players take advantage of ideal power poker situations.

It is risky in No Limit Texas Holdem at online poker sites to play marginal hands such as small pairs or medium connector cards because you are likely to get raised from a player with the stronger hand.

Lesser hands, in No Limit Texas Holdem poker, should be played from a late position if they are played at all, or limped in with on the hope that you won’t get raised from a late position and can see the flop cheaply. That is why power poker is played so often at online poker sites.

You also want to remember that even a hand such as “Big Slick” is a hand to not get carried away with in No Limit Texas Holdem poker. Big Slick is a drawing hand, not a made hand, and will likely not be in the lead before the flop.

There are pitfalls to playing Big Slick from an early position as someone with a high pair is likely to call your bet with a substantial raise. As you play you may begin to think that position is even more important in No Limit Holdem than the Limit variety. You really have to be careful from an early position in No Limit Holdem because your bet can be raised to a dangerous level. No Limit Holdem is a game of power poker much more than Limit Holdem.

Getting to know your opponents is even more important in No Limit Holdem because the players have so much more freedom as far as the betting and will always want to take advantage of weakness wherever they see it and the best will respect strength from a solid player as well. Most of the time, and particularly from solid players, when they put a lot of money in the pot you had best respect it and answer with a power hand of your own if you are going to play.

Drawing for the flop, turn or river with a marginal hand at a premium cost is not a good percentage play or realistic option for a player having to call a substantial bet from a known solid player. If you have the hand, don’t allow yourself to be bullied by a power poker player and intimidated into throwing it away because someone is testing you with a marginal hand of their own. You will face these tests in No Limit Texas Holdem because the game is about power poker and if you don’t show power someone else probably will.
