The Online Poker Luck Factor

One of the greatest reasons for the growth in online betting in recent years is the increase in poker playing which has increased the online poker luck factor. Online betting sites have exploded with poker growth because of Texas Holdem and a big part of Texas Holdem poker that is appealing is the luck factor. Very often when you are at online betting sites playing poker you are going to run into players that are not very good.

These players sometimes think they are good because they get lucky. This false sense of security gives new players hope and sometimes frustrates good players. The player had six players at his table and was in the small blind and everyone folded to him. He had A-10, not a bad hand, especially if the entire table had already folded. He re-raised a healthy amount and the big blind called. The flop was pretty good as it came A-6-8.

The player had top pair with a decent kicker and led out with an all-in bet. The player got called. It was his A-10 against the other players’ A-3. This was a great situation to be in. The player had all his money in with a far superior hand. The turn was a blank but a 3 hit on the river giving the other player Aces and 3's. The A-10 dominated the A-3 but still lost. This is an example of an inexperienced player calling a big bet with a weak hand. And this weak player made the mistake twice. He called a big raise before the flop and an all-in bet after the flop. The player got very lucky and won.

Luck will sometimes beat skill at online betting poker sites. What you want to remember is that all you can do is get your money in the pot with the best hand and take your shot. Luck is really beyond your control. It is supposed to even out in the end. In this previous example you had a case where a new player fell in love with his Ace and got lucky. It happens.

Luck is definitely a factor in online betting poker and it is a huge reason for the popularity of Texas Holdem. It is also a major reason why new players can sometimes beat the pros, even if it is not very often.
