Download NowThe first ever World Series of Poker Europe is set to make its debut tournament showing on September 6th in London, England. The first event is a three-day £2,500 H.O.R.S.E. poker tournament starting on September 6 at The Casino at The Empire one of the newest casinos in Leicester Square.  The second event on the Europe Poker Series schedule has a £5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha tournament, which begins September 8th.

The Main Event is a six-day £10,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em tournament that starts September 10th, and will be hosted by The Empire, The Sportsman and Fifty, which are all part of London Clubs International (LCI)  "We fully expect the Europe Series of Poker to become Europe's preeminent poker tournament," commissioner Jeffrey Pollack said. "We're thrilled that so many of the games biggest names will participate."

Already registered or committed to playing in are Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey, Erik Seidel, Jennifer Harman, Howard Lederer, Allen Cunningham, Phil Hellmuth, Eli Elezgra, Jamie Gold, and Gus Hansen. European officials are expecting a sellout crowd. "The early sign ups and limited venue size means that each field will have limited capacity. If poker players want to play in these inaugural events alongside the best players in the world, I encourage them to pre-register well in advance to solidify their seat," Pollack said.

The 2007 Series main event in Las Vegas was won by Jerry Yang who outlasted 6,358 players just a month ago. The most well-known player at the final table was Lee Watkinson who finished 8th. Jerry Yang claimed over $8 million as his first prize victory, as well as the WSOP Main Event gold bracelet. Finishing 2nd was Tuan Lam who collected over $4.8 million. Raymond Rahme was third and picked up just over $3 million.

Alex Kravchenko finished 4th and picked up over $1.8 million. Jon Kalmar was fifth and won just over $1.2 million. Hevad “Rain” Khan was 5th and won just over $956,000.  Lee Childs was 7th and picked up just over $705,000. Watkinson was 8th and won just over $585,000.
