Far too many players end up frustrated because they don’t bet. They wait for a big draw and more often than not get stuck with nothing. If you want to win at Texas Holdem then you need to be aggressive and part of that aggression is learning how to bet. When you are sitting at the table with a good hand then fire away. If you remember nothing else about Texas Holdem remember this one point. You want as much money in the pot when you have the best hand and the least amount of money in the pot when you are weak. This should be simple enough to understand, but many players mess it up. They slow play big hands and get aggressive with draws. That is not how to win money when playing online Texas Holdem. If you want to learn Texas Holdem betting techniques start watching the best players. A player with a strong drawing pocket poker hand such as pocket kings should take the offensive and more often than not be aggressive. If nothing else, a player that adopts this approach will chase off the poker players holding marginal hands, thus preventing too many poker players from drawing. What can also happen is that you get players that are willing to chase you down with weaker hands. You must show power, strength and aggression with your poker betting. If players at the poker table continue to limp in then you need to punish them with raises. Bet and win the pots in poker. Fire away and chase out limpers and force players to make decisions in Texas Holdem. That is how you win at poker. You bet. This is particularly true in today’s online poker world where aggressive players usually do well. One thing you must remember about betting and playing aggressive poker, is that online poker is there is a difference between aggressive betting and stupid betting. Too many players think that aggression means being a maniac. It doesn’t. You need to bet smart and aggressive. That is something you learn over time and something many players have not mastered. They think aggression means betting everything and that is not the case. Betting can win you pots but you must know when to bet strong and when to back off. Remember that winning at poker means learning how to bet. |
